Discussing Questions And Answers About Affiliate Marketing Blog

Paul asks…

Having an Affiliate business?

I am interested in starting an online affiliate marketing business where I sell other businesses’ products and receive small commission on each sell that was generated through my site. I don’t plan on making this full-time or anything huge, just something on side to make a little extra income.

However, I have seen some of these affiliate website businesses where it’s a real online business with the name on top of the site, products separated by category (tv, computers, accessories, etc) and I have also seen websites that are more blog sites, where someone blogs about a certain topic or product and then they have a link to a product for one of their affiliates.

In either of these situations or any other kind of website similiar, are these companies required to set up as a business with a EIN and pay taxes on their earnings? If so, how do they go by doing so?

Thanks!

I believe if you are doing affiliate marketing, using companies such as Clickbank, then you can just use your SS# and get paid. You don’t have to be a company. You’ll obtain a domain name from go daddy or someone and use that name as your “company name”. However, these customers aren’t paying you directly, they are paying the vendors you are promoting. You affiliate program, such as Clickbank, pays you as an Independent Contractor. So, no, you don’t need an EIN, but you will be an independent contractor and will pay taxes. You should get a form at the end of the year from the affiliate program you are using I believe. Hope that helps!

WordPress design capabilities – is this design possible?

I’m toying with the idea of creating an affiliate marketing website/blog using wordpress. I really like some of the magazine style themes, especially the MagPress theme. What I would like to know is whether or not it is possible to create half static/half blog pages within WordPress? I know you can do both individually, but can you do both on the same page. I’ll give an example of what I am looking for.

I want a homepage in which the top half is “static” in that it never changes, while about midway down its sectioned off into different categories of blog posts showing new posts and featured posts. I would also like a menu bar that had about 5-7 different items (5-7 different products) and on each one of those pages have the same half static/half blog aspect as well. That way I could advertise the product at the top, then below use some type of autoblogging plugin that constantly changes the posts with new posts about the individual products, mainly so visitors can get different reviews of the products. Is this possible?

I know for a fact you can do this with the Headway Theme for WordPress but it costs money and has a bit of a learning curve. I am not sure if any free themes offer this.

How to show amazon affiliate marketing ads to other’s blog/site?

I’ve joined amazon affiliate marketing.I’ve created a blog. But,its not popular yet. So,can i use those amazon ads link code to other’s blog?If yes, then how?
I mean,where i’ve to add the code in other’s sites.Plz give a example.
Thanks!

The Old Hippy Dude answers:

Amazon is paying you to link to them, you can’t expect other sites to want to link to your sales page for free. Your may be thinking a bit too direct, as if you were pasting for sale signs on every telephone pole.

Successful sites create genuinely useful content to help attract visitors as well as possibly getting search engine ranking and if your content is exceptional, other sites will voluntarily link to your site. Links from other sites are the biggest factor effecting search engine ranking.

There is a ton of competition in the Amazon ‘store’ biz, a longer term plan initially focusing on developing a worthwhile site is probably what it takes to succeed.

You in the same boat as a lot of the people discussing their strategies on the Warriorforum. These guys have compiled some useful resources.

Sandy asks…

Please share ways to help with affiliate marketing. I now have CJ, Clickbank and Adsense.?

Is it worth the effort, please send some helpful links. Maybe a page of an affiliate‘s blog with hoplinks.

The Old Hippy Dude answers:

There is a blog out there called”blogging to the bank” and therre is also a product called the same thing. Just type that title into google to find out information about making money with your blog. I just got an email today that “blogging to the bank 3.0″ is a new product and it seems like something worth looking into. People in this program are making over $3000 a month with their blogs.

My tip to you is when your blog starts to receive traffic start selling advertising space to places like”buysellads” “adbrite” “blogads” and if you start to get thousands of visitors every month then sell space to “traffic.” These are all great places to sell advertising space.

Hope this helps
